The Camino Medio Soto Zen Community (CSZCM) is pleased to announce its admission as a full traditional member of the Buddhist Union of Spain - Federation of Buddhist Entities of Spain (UBE-FEBE), the organization that brings together and represents Buddhist communities and traditions present across Spain.

This recognition marks a milestone in CSZCM’s history. Since its beginning, the community has worked with dedication to transmit Soto Zen Buddhism in contemporary life, integrating practice and teaching into everyday experience while preserving the authenticity of the tradition.

Joining UBE-FEBE is both institutional recognition and an opportunity for broader collaboration with Buddhist communities throughout the country, strengthening ties of fraternity, dialogue, and mutual support.

What full traditional membership means

Traditional membership recognizes communities that transmit a specific Buddhist lineage with historical continuity, established teaching, and distinctive practice, as is the case with Soto Zen Buddhism.

As a full member, CSZCM can actively participate in federation decision-making bodies, contribute to joint initiatives, and collaborate on projects that support the transmission of Dharma for the benefit of society.

This step also strengthens the presence of Soto Zen within Spain’s plural Buddhist landscape, contributing to the diversity of expressions that share a common purpose: alleviating suffering and awakening compassion and interdependence.

CSZCM mission

CSZCM was founded to offer a space open to all people interested in Soto Zen practice. Its mission is centered on cultivating seated meditation (zazen), integrating practice into daily life, and sustaining continuous training.

With local dojos and practice groups, together with a growing online presence, the community offers retreats, talks, courses, and deepening activities that allow practitioners in different places to connect with the tradition and share awakening practice.

A door toward the future

Joining UBE-FEBE reinforces CSZCM’s commitment to the development of Buddhism in Spain, contributing from its own tradition to a stronger, more inclusive, and collaborative community fabric.

The community accepts this new role responsibly, aware that unity and collaboration between sanghas are essential in a world shaped by social, ecological, and spiritual challenges that require deep and collective responses.

With this recognition, Camino Medio Soto Zen Community renews its determination to continue offering Dharma with humility and dedication, in service of all beings.
